It appears the main ingredient in Phenocal is Hoodia Gordonii. Hoodia Gordonii comes from a cactus in Africa. It is a purported appetite suppressant. Nearly equivalent to the high amount of hype surrounding Hoodia is the lack of scientific support behind Hoodia. There are no scientific studies supporting it. Manufacturers continue to use it because it is cheap and it sounds exotic.
